The Twin Falls Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to participate in a variety of programs and activities that support education, patriotism, and historic preservation.
We support Wreaths Across America and are working to place wreaths on the graves of more than 1,500 veterans buried at Filer Cemetery, West End Cemetery in Buhl, Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, Twin Falls Cemetery, and Rock Creek Veterans Cemetery. Join us at any of these cemeteries for Wreaths Across America Day in December!
Each year we honor local high school seniors selected by their schools as DAR Good Citizens based on the criteria of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
Each year we invite local students in grades five to eight to submit an essay in the American History Essay Contest. Students in grades nine to twelve are invited to participate in the Patriots of the American Revolution Essay Contest.
Each year we invite students in grades K-12 to enter the poster design contest, postage stamp design contest, digital art contest, short story contest, and poetry contest sponsored by the Junior American Citizens Committee.
Each September 17-23, we celebrate Constitution Week by posting posters, setting up special displays, and encouraging city councils to pass proclamations.
We have an active DAR Service for Veterans Committee which organizes donations to veterans' projects.
Each Veterans Day we place a wreath at the chapter's World War I memorial located on the county courthouse grounds, then hand out small flags to the veterans and audience at the citywide celebration.
We participate in the annual Vietnam War Commemoration in collaboration with local veterans' organizations.
We have established a scholarship at Idaho State University in Pocatello for students in the nursing program.
